Oncology Rehabilitation

Did you know?
  • The number of people diagnosed with cancer is increasing, but mortality rates are decreasing.
  • More people living with cancer plus more aggressive cancer treatments equals a growing need for physical medicine and rehabilitation.

The Oncology Rehab Program at ORS, "BUILDING FUTURES", is helping people with cancer improve their quality of life. Cancer is a devastating disease…and each of our oncology rehab therapists has been touched by cancer in their families and friends, which drives them further to provide the best care for our patients with compassion, understanding, and innovative approaches. Our aim is to educate, to inspire and to empower our patients to take an active role in their care, life and survivorship, through all phases of cancer. We evaluate and treat pain, cancer-related fatigue, strength deficits, range of motion limitations and soft tissue restrictions, all with the goals of improved mobility and strength, decreased pain and ultimately improved quality of life.

Why Cancer Patients Benefit From Physical Therapy

Cancer, surgery, chemotherapy, radiation and breast reconstruction have profound musculoskeletal, functional and cardiovascular effects.  In addition to skilled physicians, cancer patients need other medical resources to help them cope and recover from their illness. Physical therapy can be a key element in an individual’s overall care.
