A Concussion is a brain injury resulting from the brain being shaken inside the skull as a result of a direct blow to the head or an indirect force, such as whiplash. Concussions cause changes in the brain’s chemistry and energy supply.
PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS:
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Balance Issues
- Nausea/vomiting
- Fatigue
- Difficulty sleeping
- Double or blurred vision
- Sensitivity to light and sound
COGNITIVE (THINKING) SYMPTOMS:
- Memory issues, either short or long term
- Confusion
- Slowed mental processing
- Mental “Fogginess”
- Difficulty with concentration
EMOTIONAL SYMPTOMS:
- Irritability
- Restlessness
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Mood swings
- Aggression
- Decreased tolerance of stress
